Also NGC 3992. A pretty barred galaxy in the rich
field of galaxies in Ursa Major. The spiral
arms are somewhat faint to observe visually. The galaxy was added to the Messier list as late as 1953 by Owen
Gingerich. (UGC6969 and UGC6940 are also seen.) Mag 10.6
