The 17.5" Dobsonian

The 17.5" Dobsonian was built in 1981-82 and published in Telescope Making #17. It is made out of marine type plywood and aluminum tubes. It was one of the first Dobsonians using the serrurier truss design, and one of the first 17.5" Dobs that easily could be fitted into the trunk of a small size car. The design is stiff and sturdy, and the telescope is a pleasure to use. It has been rebuilt somewhat (not shown) since the 80's. It is also described in the book "The Dobsonian Telescope", by David Kriege and Richard Berry, published in 1998.
