Hickson Galaxies
The Hickson
galaxies are compact galaxy groups. A few are bright and easy to observe, but
most of the galaxy groups are faint and at magnitude 14-16. However, they often
show extraordinary interaction, and are nice objects for observing galaxy
dynamics. The reference table gives links to photos and observations of some
interesting Hickson galaxies.
Note: The Hickson
pages are still under development….

Jim Shields magnificent web site has lots on Hickson
quintets and sextets and other stuff.
Jim's website also has a listing of the Hickson catalog, including
compact groups #1 to #100.
